Simple to Understand URLs

If you want to create a SEO compliant website, you should bear into consideration creating a simple to understand website. Always bear in mind that search engines would normally go for the description of your website. You wouldn’t also want internet users to get lost or confused upon viewing your website.

Simple to understand URL creation would involve several factors. One of these factors would be adding or creating descriptive categories and filenames for your web content. With this in place, your website would be better organized and being so, this would sprawl different search engines and would direct more traffic into your website.

Sometimes, we tend to be showy or a show off when we put in content into our site, however, bear in mind that if you’re putting up a website, you should consider your customers. Having a very complex, elaborate website and web content may simply result to intimidating viewers and visitors of your site. Another key thing is that your URL address should be something that viewers can easily recognize or remember. Having this, you get to have a double ended result. You can get to have more viewers and visitors to your site because search engines would easily crawl into your page, and if the URL is simple and easy to remember, viewers may even tell their friends about it through word of mouth.

Avoid using lengthy URLs that contain unnecessary parameters. If I were to create a site about health supplements, I would simply be selecting a URL that would encapsulate the whole idea like: “alternative medicine”, “health supplements”, “herbal medicine”, “organic medicine”, etc. I would make sure that the address of my website would not be as generic as simply using or selecting “health supplement” but it also would not contain excessive keywords or repetitive keywords that mean the same thing. Remember that internet users are smart. They often base your credibility, factual data, and even judge you by the way you present your URL. So in order to build an SEO website, create it simple and understandable.

Part of being simple and understandable is being able to create an easy navigation for your viewers. Navigating your website easily would lead to viewers finding the information they want. This also allows the webmaster to easily determine if the content you have in your website is useful or not. Having an easy navigational page would entail having a root page where your customers or viewers can refer back to. This would also serve as a start off point, some sort of spring board that would connect viewers to other information and other websites that are linked to this main page. Easy navigation would also mean creating breadcrumbs that would be easier for viewers to click on in case they want to go back to the previous page, instead of having them click on the back button on their browser.

Another thing you can consider doing which allows better navigation into your site would be having a site map. The ideal is having two site maps: one for the search engine, another for your visitor or user. Having such would allow visitors to easily see the contents of your page, and simply click on the topic they need and disregard the others.
